Psychotherapy and Counselling
PSYCHOTHERAPY is a therapeutic alliance between the practitioner and the client. It provides a safe and confidential space in which the client's problems, concerns, distress, or wishes can be explored on a weekly basis.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist I work with what the client brings. This may mean becoming aware of how the problem affects the client's physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health, as well as understanding how past experience may be linked with and influence the client's present life.
In the course of the relationship, uncomfortable past experience may be evoked; though this may be challenging and exerienced as painful, the final aim is to promote the client's wellness and creative expression.
COUNSELLING is often short-term therapy. It is more directive and focused on dealing with a specific problem. If concern over other problems should arise , awareness may be directed to it, though whether to explore it or not is the client's choice.
